Concurrent Students and Applications
Each year UAFS serves more than 800 students in the greater Fort Smith region through various concurrent credit course options. Whether you are learning in one of the 10 areas of study in the Western Arkansas Technical Center, taking general college education courses through UAFS at your high school, or studying career and technical courses such as robotics or unmanned aerial systems at your high school, the university offers myriad learning opportunities for students to prepare themselves for the transition to college or employment following high school.
Concurrent enrollment is a great way to earn high school credit while also obtaining college credit hours toward your future degree. These courses differ from advanced placement (AP) coursework in that you are enrolled and participating in a college course taught by university faculty and, regardless of exam scores, earn the grade given at the end of the semester. Concurrent credit courses are the traditional semester in length, rather than the full academic year, and are offered in a variety of ways through UAFS. You can also take concurrent credit courses on your own time or over summer hours.
